A new candidate has emerged to take on Leslyn Lewis for the Conservative seat in Haldimand-Norfolk.
Albert Marshall has officially put his hat into the race to represent our riding in the next Federal election.
Current Conservative MP Diane Finley had previously announced that she would not be running in the next election, with Lewis making her intentions known that she was looking to represent Haldimand-Norfolk shortly after.
Marshall has launched a website where he does touch on some issues he wishes to address in the future election, should he receive the nomination.
Also on this page, he has a made list of reasons as to why Marshall believes he is the ideal candidate – with the fact that he is born and raised in Haldimand-Norfolk being the first thing noted.
This local connection has been one of the strongest criticisms for Lewis, who is moving here from Toronto and is not from the area.
After running for the Leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada, Lewis said she was looking for a rural area represent and ultimately chose Haldimand-Norfolk, noted she did extremely well in the polls here as part of the reason she decided to try and claim the seat.
Lewis has been making several videos on social media where she has been meeting with locals to discuss the issues, with supporter Diane Finley along with her for most of these meetings.
There is no set date as of yet for when the Conservative Party locally will vote on who will represent them in the next Federal election.
We intend to interview Marshall regarding his decision to run.
