An Ohsweken man is facing dozens of firearms-related charges.
On Friday, Brantford Police were called out after someone witnessed a man driving around with a female passenger while allegedly in possession of a firearm.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle was previously reported stolen from the Region of Halton.
Later that evening, officers identified the suspect vehicle in a parking lot with the accused driver and female passenger inside.
When officers conducted a traffic stop, the accused attempted to flee the scene, striking a residential fence and staircase with the vehicle.
The vehicle, fence, and staircase all sustained extensive damage.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was not pursued by police due to public safety concerns.
Later that night, the vehicle was found abandoned.
The investigation also revealed that the accused was also currently bound by five Criminal Code driving prohibitions.
The accused was then identified by officers and arrested by members of the Six Nations Police Service on Sunday.
As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Lorne Melvin General is facing 48 weapons-related charges.
