One person has been arrested following a tense incident involving a barricaded individual at a residence in Fisherville.
On Sunday morning, officers from the Haldimand Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report at a home on Erie Street.
With the support of specialized units including the OPP West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Crisis Negotiators, police secured the area and safely brought the situation under control.
The Haldimand OPP Major Crime Unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
A 47-year-old Cambridge resident has been charged with multiple Criminal Code offences, including:
Sexual Assault
Forcible Confinement
Assault with a Weapon
Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death
Mischief Under $5,000
Assaulting a Peace Officer
The accused remains in custody. Police have not released the individual’s name at this time.
