
Public Health Issues Measles Exposure Alert for Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe
Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) is warning residents about a potential measles exposure at Norfolk General Hospital’s Emergency Department.
The exposure may have occurred on two separate dates: March 9th, between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., and March 11th, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads easily through the air via coughing and sneezing.
Symptoms typically include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a distinctive rash.
It can be especially dangerous for infants, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems.
Public Health urges anyone who was at Norfolk General Hospital during these times to monitor for symptoms until April 1st.
