The Brantford Police Service has issued a warning to local businesses and residents following an increase in counterfeit money reports throughout February 2025.
Authorities have received 11 reports of fake Canadian bills being used at businesses across the city, primarily involving $100 and $50 notes.
A key concern is the circulation of $100 bills with the following serial numbers: GRJ6710018, GRJ6710019, GRJ6710020, GRJ6710021, and GRJ6710022.
These fraudulent bills feature a holographic strip labeled “Prop Money”, with some showing visible discoloration or peeling.
Brantford Police urge businesses to verify large bills closely and report suspicious currency immediately.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and avoid accepting damaged or questionable banknotes.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
