Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) has issued over 2,800 school suspension notices to students in Brantford-Brant and Haldimand-Norfolk due to missing immunization records.
The suspensions, set to take effect on March 25, 2025, are part of Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA), which requires students to be vaccinated against diseases such as measles, polio, and tetanus.
Parents and guardians have received multiple reminders since July 2024, urging them to update their children’s immunization records.
With the suspension deadline approaching, families must provide proof of vaccination or a valid exemption to avoid school disruptions.
GEPH stresses that maintaining accurate immunization records is crucial to preventing outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.
Health officials are encouraging parents to take immediate action to ensure compliance with provincial health regulations.
