A shoplifting investigation in Simcoe led to additional charges after police found drugs and unmarked cigarettes.
On Monday, (February 3rd), at around 5:30 p.m., Norfolk County OPP responded to a reported theft at a business on Queensway East. Officers determined that an individual entered the store, concealed merchandise, and left without paying.
Police located the suspect still on the premises and took them into custody without incident. A further search led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine and unmarked cigarettes.
As a result, 55-year-old Norfolk County resident has been charged with theft under $5,000 (shoplifting), trafficking methamphetamine, and possession of unmarked cigarettes.
Police remind the public that theft and illegal substances will not be tolerated, and offenders will be held accountable.
