GIRLS Power Camp is coming up fast, offering a supportive space to help Grade 8 girls get ready for the transition to high school.
We spoke with Coordinator Haley Hutchinson, who explains who the program is for.
The camp is designed to ease the challenges of starting high school—especially for those coming from small rural schools in Norfolk County, where the change can feel overwhelming.
Hutchinson says the program encourages girls to step outside their comfort zones in a safe and supportive environment.
Beyond preparing for high school, the camp also features empowering activities to help participants bond with peers and build confidence.
While this isn’t a free event, organizers strive to keep costs low. If a Grade 8 student is interested but financial barriers exist, families are encouraged to reach out for assistance.
The camp is also seeking adult women to get involved as mentors and supporters.
