Coca-Cola Canada Bottling, led by CEO Todd Parsons, has named Jarvis, as Canada’s Kindest Community in the first-ever contest celebrating kindness nationwide. The initiative, tied to the Coca-Cola Caravan’s holiday tour, received nominations from 600 communities across Canada.
The contest was born from Coca-Cola’s commitment to community and optimism. Parsons was inspired by the holiday caravan tradition of the company, which started in Saskatchewan with decorated trucks spreading cheer.
Parson’s genuine emotional response, speaks to the commitment that Coca-Cola brings to this project. He went on to explain they have partnered with the Community Foundations of Canada to recognize and reward communities that embody this type of kindness.
As the nominations began to roll in, Parsons said Jarvis stood out for its strong sense of community and acts of compassion.
Residents’ contributions included hosting food drives, sharing meals with neighbors in need, and the annual Light Up Festival, which attracts thousands to view festive home decorations. As the winning community, Jarvis will receive a $50,000 donation through the Norfolk Community Foundation to support local initiatives. The town will also enjoy a special Coca-Cola Caravan experience later this year.
Parsons finished by noting that this new initiative reflects Coke Canada’s mission.
He hopes that this contest will enrich communities and spread optimism across the country, adding that “kindness is what Canada is all about.”
