The Vittoria and District Foundation spoke at Council-in-Committee yesterday in support of the sale of the historic Vittoria Town Hall from Norfolk County as proposed in option 3 of a county staff report. The decision is subject to the budget request, which will be discussed at the January 15th Budget Committee Meeting.
Option 3 allows for the nominal sale of the hall parcel to a registered charitable organization, while Lamport Park will remain county parkland with a septic easement agreement provided.
The Vittoria and District Foundation, established in 1997, has a strong record of community partnerships and project success. The Foundation’s access to local, provincial, and federal grants would assist in maintaining the heritage building.
The sale of the historic site would ensure that it stays accessible to the community while preserving this local landmark for public use.
