Norfolk Minor Hockey has responded to the Ontario Hockey Federation’s (OHF) updated Player Movement Policy, expressing both concern and optimism about its impact on rural hockey programs.
The organization highlighted challenges posed by the policy, emphasizing how smaller rural centers like Norfolk rely on a stable player base to maintain competitive teams and support young athlete development. They warned the changes could disrupt this balance and affect local player growth.
However, Norfolk Minor Hockey is embracing the future with optimism. “We’re not just prepared—we’re excited to show Norfolk is the place for players to thrive,” the statement read.
The Norfolk Knights program has grown significantly in the past three years, now offering A, B, and Select programming for 272 players. On-ice success has followed, with 13 OMHA qualifiers, 2 finalists, and 4 league championships during this time.
With a focus on player development and competitive excellence, Norfolk Minor Hockey is confident the Knights will remain a top choice for players in the region as they enter this new era of minor hockey.
