It’s been another busy year for the Norfolk County Fire Department.
We spoke with Fire Prevention Officer Cory Armstrong-Smith with the Norfolk County Fire Department, who says despite a recent string of fires at abandoned buildings, the amount of fires they have responded to is roughly the same.
With that, there is one trend they have noted.
Even though that is on the rise, there is still a clear leader when it comes to fires in Norfolk.
Branching off of that, there is a rise even in this category.
Looking ahead to 2025, there is a goal in mind.
While they gets calls for all alarms, they have seen a lot of calls about a certain kind.
Armstrong-Smith says open air burning continues to be a concern as well.
