West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) has announced Kim Rent, a Registered Practical Nurse in the Ambulatory Care and Perioperative Department, as the recipient of the 2024 Kelly Currie Nursing Excellence Award.
Kim, who joined WHGH in 2016, was recognized for her compassion, dedication, and commitment to exceptional patient care. The award, presented in November, celebrates her leadership, community spirit, and embodiment of the award’s values.
“I was absolutely speechless,” Kim said. “Growing up in Haldimand and helping my community achieve better health outcomes is incredibly rewarding. Being acknowledged by my peers is humbling.”
Kim credits her mother, Faye Thompson, a retired nurse, as her inspiration and praised WHGH’s supportive team.
The award honours Kelly Currie, a beloved WHGH nurse who passed in 2020, remembered for her dedication to palliative care and the community. Kim described Kelly as an inspiring figure who embodied the best in nursing.
