One of the most recognizable ships in Canada has had a rough start to the winter season.
Theodore Too, a small tugboat known for its smiling face and bright red hat who had visited Port Dover in the past, took on water while tied up at the dock at Ontario Shipyards in St. Catharines.
On Instagram Theodore posted: “I am resting safely on my belly in the mud and my family has assembled a team of experts to carefully right and refloat me.”
The ship had previously been located in Nova Scotia, but was relocated to Ontario in 2021 and was featured in the children’s show ‘Theodore Tugboat’ on CBC.
Owner Blair McKeil says they are working on a refloating plan, as the ship is partially submerged, before it is craned out and set ashore.
