Norfolk County OPP are ramping up enforcement as part of the Festive RIDE campaign, an annual initiative to remove impaired drivers from Ontario roads during the holiday season.
Since December 13th, five individuals have been charged in separate incidents. In Port Dover, a pickup truck driver collided with a parked vehicle. A 58-year-old, Norfolk County man, faces impaired driving and careless driving charges and will appear in court at the end of the month.
On December 15, a 21-year-old driver, was charged with impaired driving and open liquor violations following a traffic stop in Delhi. Hours later, a serious collision on Highway 24 led to impaired and dangerous driving charges against a 28-year-old from Norfolk County after the other driver sustained serious injuries.
Two more arrests followed in Woodhouse and Simcoe, with one involving suspected cocaine. Police urge the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1.
