It needs to be an “all Canada approach” as the looming threat of tariffs from the US linger overhead.
Deputy Prime Minster Chrystia Freeland spoke to the media following an emergency first ministers meeting yesterday (Wednesday) about the potential 25 per cent tariffs facing Canada once President Elect Donald Trump is sworn in.
She said now is the time for all the Premiers’ and leaders to get on the same boat.
Donald Trump said he will sign an executive order imposing a 25-per-cent tariff on all products coming into the United States from Canada and Mexico on Truth Social earlier this week, adding that the duties will be among his actions on his first day back in the White House on Jan. 20 – Inauguration Day.
Trump said the tariff will remain in place until both countries stop drugs, in particular fentanyl, and people from illegally crossing the borders.
