This Monday, people will gather at cenotaphs around Norfolk County for Remembrance Day.
We spoke to Simcoe Legion President Bryan Robertson about the day, our veterans, and Legions in the country moving forward.
One thing that does make him happy is the steady increase of people coming out on November 11th.
At that Simcoe ceremony, schools from across the area come and lay down a wreath.
Community outreach, especially to this demographic, is important.
While Canada is not engaged directly in any wars right now, sadly war is top of mind for many individuals considering the many conflicts around the globe.
Robertson says it’s also important to know that those conflict may be far away – but there is a closer connection than many may know with our local 56th Field Regiment.
When looking to the future, Robertson says it may look a bit different.
While Veterans have always steered the Legion, the demographics are changing.
A full list of ceremonies happening across Norfolk will be posted later today.
