Local writers took the spotlight on Friday for the Norfolk Literary Prize.
Put on annually by the Norfolk County Public Library, the writing contest sees local individuals submit short stories and poems with three different categories – Children, Youth, and Adult.
At the event, this year it took place in St. Williams, they announced the first, second, and third place winners for each group for a total of 18 winners.
Each year, there is also a Laureate Award presented by Poet Laureate John B. Lee.
The first place entries were read at the event, which can be viewed here, with poems read in full and sections of the short story told out loud.
52 writers submitted 100 pieces of work, with the ages ranging from 9 to 90-years-old.
The library plans to release the full list of winners last today (Monday) on their social media channels.
