The Norfolk Family Health Team (NFHT) celebrated the grand opening of its new facility at the Robinson Administration Building in Simcoe, marking a significant milestone for rural healthcare in Norfolk County. Board Chair Annette Wilson welcomed attendees and highlighted the team’s commitment to providing quality care. The facility aims to enhance access to healthcare services for all community members, including vulnerable populations.
Local officials, including MPP Bobbie Ann Brady and MP Leslyn Lewis’s representative, praised the collaborative efforts that brought the project to fruition. The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the facility.
The NFHT’s new facility was designed to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients. The building avoids using institutional elements like steel doors and wire glass. Instead, the design is inspired by Norfolk’s logo, with colors representing the area’s natural landscape. These colors are used throughout the facility to help patients navigate.
The facility features 20+ rooms for various health services, including primary care, physiotherapy, chronic pain management, and counseling. The space is designed to let in natural light, creating a bright and calming atmosphere. Special rooms are available for pediatric care and bariatric patients, ensuring accessibility for all.
