The Haldimand Norfolk Housing Corporation (HNHC) is taking a big step to meet local housing needs by demolishing two old social housing homes on Gibralter Street in Delhi. These homes, part of HNHC’s portfolio, would need major repairs to meet today’s standards. Instead, they will be replaced with a new multi-residential building featuring at least 16 units.
The new building will provide a mix of Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI), Affordable, and Market rent units. This project aligns with HNHC’s goal of creating inclusive and sustainable housing for people with different income levels.
HNHC CEO Matt Bowen said the project will help build a stronger future for residents in Delhi and Norfolk County. Norfolk County Mayor Amy Martin and Sarah Page, General Manager of Health and Social Services, praised the partnership for bringing more affordable housing to the area. Demolition will begin on tomorrow (Sept 24th).
