A 15-year-old has been charged after a threat was made against a school in Haldimand County. On September 10, around 4:00 a.m., the Haldimand OPP received information from Interpol about the threat. Police determined that the threat was posted on social media but has since been removed. Authorities believe there is no further danger to the public.
The teen is facing a charge of uttering threats, which is against the Criminal Code of Canada. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused is being protected.
The youth has been released from police custody and is set to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date. No additional details will be provided to protect the identity of the accused.
Police have assured the public that there is no ongoing risk to safety.
