Whooping cough cases are on the rise in Canada.
A sharp increase in the illness is being reported in several provinces, including 11-thousand-600 cases in Quebec.
Ontario is counting 470 cases, nearly five times its average number from five years ago.
And New Brunswick declared a whooping cough outbreak last week.
Public health officials say whooping cough is a cyclical but vaccine-preventable disease that can be very serious in young children.
