It’s Local Manufacturing Week presented by Toyotetsu. We are profiling Scotts Canada in Delhi.
It was the first plant to open up in 2005 and the first employee they hired was Dean Stone.
We chatted with Stone about the changes over the years, and he’s seen it all, rising up through multiple positions to now reach Plant Manager.
He say it opened up in 2005 with, at the time, state of the art technology for this fully automated facility and as technology advices took place, they adapted to those as well.
From soils into a hopper, soil going into a bag, bags going onto a pallet – they are using automation wherever they can.
Stone said one source of pride from the plant and it’s workers is the commitment to the community, noting their assistance to local agricultural societies, especially in schools, as well as Community Gardens.
