A review by Canada’s spy watchdog into foreign meddling has found two intelligence assessments did not reach politicians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
That’s because senior public servants, the national security and intelligence adviser disagreed on whether activities described in briefs amounted to foreign interference or legitimate diplomatic activity.
The National Security and Intelligence Review Agency report recommends the security adviser’s role be spelled out in law, including with respect to decisions about intelligence circulation.
