Animal shelters see it every year – an influx of rabbits coming to the door in the weeks following Easter.
That was Simcoe and District Humane Society’s Cathie Hoskin.
Sadly, getting a bunny on Easter is something that is well known in the collective conscience of this world, and there will still likely be young kids getting that special present this weekend.
But those bright smiles Easter morning don’t always last forever.
The bedding, the cage, the food, and the time are also big factors to consider with this animal that can live up to 12 years.
Hoskin is not letting the public know about this as a way to scare them away from rabbits; they make wonderful pets, but you need to be prepared.
If you are interested in getting a rabbit after Easter and have done all the proper research and are prepared for the commitment, Hoskin says they will gladly walk a family through the steps of adopting a rabbit into their new forever home.
