Since he was 13 years old, Cole Mabee has loved wrestling.
His passion for hitting the mats has grown over the years, leading to the start of the Norfolk Wrestling Club – which, for a period of time, consisted of like-minded individuals in the community whom he got to know.
Now, Mabee wants to open that up to the public, investing money and turning his passion into a small business aimed at teaching the community wrestling.
The first step in that journey begins Thursday evening, with an open house.
These are lessons geared towards all ages and skill levels, aiming to attract youth from the area as well as curious adults.
The core group of experienced wrestlers trains three times a week, while novices just starting out will train two nights a week at the Simcoe location.
Mabee explained what prompted him to expand from a small group wrestling and training together to opening a public place and inviting the community in.
He has seen firsthand the benefits of wrestling and wants to see more people join the fold.
They will be training at the same location as their open house on Thursday, at 50 Riverside Road in Simcoe.
The open house runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
