A Port Dover woman has made it to the quarter finals of an online Greatest Baker competition.
Over 800 groups of 50 individuals started, and now Becky Torio is fighting to get into the semi-final spot.
So, Torio did it.
She put up the profile with pictures of her custom creations she makes on the side for fun, and couldn’t believe her eyes when this amateur baker beat out a whole group individuals to make it into a quarter final spot.
Torio talked to us about how this passion for baking got started, and it may not be an answer you would expect.
While she baked on and off from there, her passion for baking was reignited when he kids started to get older.
She has some stiff competition ahead with a limited time window, voting only goes until 10 p.m. on Thursday.
There are a few ways she can win, but the way you can help is through the People’s Choice community vote – which nets her $10K, her work shared in Scratch magazine, and an opportunity to meet renowned baker Buddy Valastro.
Voting information can be found here.
