Often times when you hear of an event happening, whether it is a fundraiser like the MS Walk, or a community or private event; it is being held at the Simcoe Legion Branch 79.
We spoke with President Bryan Robertson about why the Simcoe Legion is such a popular venue for events.
Audio PlayerNot only are there various spaces within the Legion you can rent for your event, but the large upstairs hall also features a stage, and a full sound system, as well as a kitchen, which you have the option of using yourself or using a caterer.
Audio PlayerAnd whether you rent the space upstairs or the club room downstairs, they also take the task of running the bar off your hands if you plan on having alcohol at your event.
Audio PlayerBetween the event rentals and the bar sales, events are a major source of revenue for the Simcoe Legion, one that President Robertson says is integral to keeping the Legion going.
Audio PlayerWhen you rent the Simcoe Legion, you not only support the Legion and our veterans, but the community itself through the endeavors of the Legion.
Audio PlayerIf you are interested in booking the Simcoe Legion, you can call the Legion and speak to the booking clerk about dates, rates, deposits and policies.
In addition to supporting the Simcoe Legion Branch 79 through holding your events there you can also become a Legion member; one price that has not been changed by inflation, although they have had to raise their bar prices due to the increase in purchasing costs.
Audio PlayerYou can also support the Legion by attending the events they host at the Branch themselves.
Audio PlayerOne of the events that they have coming up is the Remembrance Day Service, which they hold at the Norfolk War Memorial Carillon Tower, followed by a Remembrance Day Banquet and Awards Night that evening.
Audio PlayerIn fact, this dinner is one example of the things that the Legion is able to do for Veterans thanks to the annual Poppy Campaign.
