Steve Clark has resigned as the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
The embattled Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP has been at the heart of the Greenbelt development scandal, in which it was found he had violated ethical outlines included in the Members’ Integrity Act.
Opposition leaders have been calling for Clark’s resignation over the matter.
In a posted statement, Clark says staying in the role would serve as a distraction from the work that needs to be done to address the housing crisis. He is staying on as MPP.
