Adam Wojtkowiak has always had a passion for sports, hockey especially, but he began his journey into coaching just like many other people in Norfolk – as a parent.
His son was hitting the ice for the first time and parents were needed to help.
Then, year by year, as his kids got more and more involved – he too moved up and got deeper in coaching, making memories and lasting connections to kids along the way.
He received several nominations from parents singing his praises for his many different coaching roles – with this past year seeing him coach a hockey team, a ball hockey team, and a soccer team.
While hockey is easy for Adam, soccer was something out of his normal wheelhouse, but took on the challenge to help out his son and his team.
So far, when it comes to hockey, he’s coached up to U11 but continues to plan on moving up with his kids.
When he isn’t coaching on the ice, you can also find him with a referee shirt on calling junior hockey games.
Adam loves that he got involved in coaching, saying he it’s special to see the progress his players make each and every year and encourages more people to get involved.
He noted his time in soccer, knowing nothing about coaching the sport going in, and the ample resources online for people to use.
Adam received several nominations, and he got to read some of them as they were submitted over social media.
He was blown away at how many of them weren’t focuses so much on the skills he taught on the ice or on the soccer field, but the connection he made with the kids on the sidelines or while travelling.
