An incredibly successful fundraiser took place earlier this year.
For 45 weeks all anyone could talk about was the Hagersville Catch the Ace.
The Hagersville Rocks committee and Hagersville Lions Club teamed up to put on the event, with the Legion letting them use their space each Thursday to sell tickets and host the draw.
Tanya Ribbink, a member of both groups, said it was something special to watch the total raised rise each week.
Hagersville Rocks will be donating about $1.4 Million to the West Haldimand General Hospital Foundation, and the Lions Club will be donating just under $1 Million to the food bank and retaining the rest of their funds for different projects in the community.
With that, she said she would be willing to chat with any organizations that are looking to create a similar campaign.
She said it is something that could be handled by one organization, but the Hagersville Rocks and Lions were glad to have each other as it grew and became an operation with over 50 volunteers each week.
The winner of Catch the Ace, Richard Marshall, went home with $2,035,295.00.
