The crunch heard all across Canada echoed through Haldimand and Norfolk.
Last week, The Great Big Crunch event took place at schools across the country.
The event is an anti-silence campaign geared towards thinking about eating healthy foods at school.
Our very own Robynn Beazley was at Boston Public School on March 9 to hear the crunch.
Sharon Smyth, the community facilitator for the Child Nutrition Network, spoke with her about the event.
All of the students gathered in the gymnasium for an assembly to crunch together.
Principal Tracy Rodrigues said the students enjoyed learning about where the local apples are grown.
Since 2008, over one million crunches have been registered for the annual Great Big Crunch.
In Haldimand-Norfolk this year nearly 5,500 students from 17 local schools participated.
The students at Boston Public made sure to thank the farmers and migrant workers that help get fresh food on their plates.
Schools were able to register and collect their apples at no charge thanks to FirstOntario Credit Union.
