A big drug bust in Dunnville.
Last month, members of Haldimand County OPP Community Street Crimes Unit initiated a Controlled Drug and Substances Act investigation to target the trafficking of illicit drugs in Haldimand County.
Dubbed Project “Trios”, the investigation led to one arrest on December 13, 2022. As a result of the arrest, police seized 169.3 grams of fentanyl, 234.4 grams of cocaine, two cellular phones and approximately $5200 in Canadian currency.
The estimated value of the drugs and cash is over $80,000.
Haldimand County CSCU and Norfolk CSCU assisted by OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a property on Pine Street in Dunnville the next day, where one person was arrested.
Police located a fully loaded firearm, ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia, along with stolen credit and bank cards.
32-year-old Dario Dilber from Stoney Creek has been charged with the following offences:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine,
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin),
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (12 counts),
· Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts),
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts),
· Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition,
· Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,
· Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm (two counts),
· Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or Ammunition,
· Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,
· Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm,
· Mischief Under $ 5,000 and
· Mischief – destroys or damages property.
29-year-old Nichole-Lynn McCauley from Brant County has been charged with the following offences:
· Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition,
· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm,
· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm,
· Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,
· Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm,
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada and
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (two counts).
The accused were held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga.
