Waterford Heritage Trail could be paved to meet with Brant County by next year.
Andy Kooistra, from the trail association, presented a deputation about the trail to Norfolk County Council this week.
Kooistra covered all of the recent updates they have done to the area, including paving other areas, and installing bridges.
The total cost of the project is expected to be around $500,000. The group is asking for $100,000 from council, with the rest being fundraised. Around $60,000 has already been raised by the group.
Many members of council voiced appreciation for the work the group has done to keep the trail in working order.
That was Councillor Mike Columbus.
The motion was passed for staff to include this on the 2023 budget, with the stipulation that the group must have their portion of the cost raised by January 1, 2023.
If more than $350,000 is raised that money will be taken off what is provided by the county.
