Haldimand-Norfolk’s Acting Medical Officer Of Health has weighed in on mask mandates for Kindergarten students.
Dr. Matt Strauss’ opinion was required on the matter after a deputation came before the Board Of Health from a parent seeking Haldimand-Norfolk’s opinion on the policy in effect for our local boards that mandates kindergarten students wear masks.
The board then asked for Dr. Strauss to provide his opinion on the matter.
Giving a verbal update to the Health And Social Services Advisory Board on Monday, Dr. Strauss said he has spent the past several weeks going over data from around the world.
In short, he does not agree with the current policy in place for masking kindergarten students.
He believes that little is known about masking children for two years, and he fears the effects that it may be having.
This was received as information, and will likely come before the Board Of Health at a future meeting.
Strauss full comments can be seen here at around the 5:50 mark.
