The Haldimand-Norfolk Medical Officer of Health position has been filled.
Dr. Matt Strauss has been named the new Acting Medical Officer of Health, and will be taking over the role on September 14.
Dr. Strauss is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Queen’s University and previously an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University.
He has practiced as an Intensivist / Internist and Medical Director of Critical Care at Guelph General Hospital.
In a press release, Board of Health Chair Kristal Chopp said Strauss impressed the board with his interest in the agricultural community, and his engagement with local farmers.
The Interim Medical Officer, Dr. Alex Huckowich, served in the role since May.
The appointment was unanimously approved by the members of the Haldimand and Norfolk Board of Health.
