The NDP have announced their candidate for Haldimand-Norfolk.
Meghan Piironen, a Haldimand County native, has put her name in the race.
The University of Ottawa student is a Cayuga Secondary School graduate.
While at Cayuga, she created the school’s first Gay Straight Alliance, and began working with Pride Haldimand-Norfolk.
Meghan has spoken at Bell Let’s Talk Day Wellness Expo in Dunnville, and participated in events promoting climate action, support for Indigenous land and people, student actions against education cuts, and the Black Lives Matter movement.
According to a press release, Meghan’s main focus is representing Haldimand-Norfolk and to be a champion for voices who would otherwise go unheard.
One-hundred signatures are required to get Meghan’s name on the ballot. More information is on the Haldimand-Noforfolk NDP Facebook page.
