Robert Graham has the dream job.
That’s how the 56-year-old describes his day-to-day job at the Simcoe Food Basics, greeting people as they come in through the door, doing disinfecting, and keeping order as they come in to keep up with provincial capacity rules.
When the question was posed to the community for who should be recognized as an Unsung Hero – Robert’s name was brought up a lot as someone who makes a shopping experience, even during these troubling times enjoyable.
He says he is a lucky man because he gets paid every shift to make people smile, and as an East Coaster, he says his gift of gab makes that requirement easy and loves to be able to do it.
He says he wakes up happy to go to work every day, usually greeted by his boss bringing him a coffee and a smile, and getting to know his fellow staff and the customers.
He says there is a friendship that gets built with his staff members, several of them brighten his day often, but there is also that bond he has with the return customers who look forward to seeing him at the front door.
