Monday was International Women’s Day, and we are continuing to take this opportunity to check in with some of our Women of Influence.
The women of Norfolk County have been busy.
We talked to Virginia Lucas from Church Out Serving about 2020, the hardships it brought, but the drive they had to help the community.
While some projects sadly suffered, like temporarily closing the laundry mat and delays at Riversyde 83, they’ve managed to ramp up other programs like their First Serving program in order to help the community.
For Diane Luke, it’s much of the same.
While the Pandemic life has slowed things down for many people, Diane has been firing on all cylinders with multiple projects on the go.
For local author Deborah Ellis, she continues to release amazing stories to the world.
Last fall she released her latest book, with plans already underway for 2022.
Betty Opersko has enjoyed some quiet time as of late.
She’s been staying safe at the farm, not going out too much, but otherwise enjoying some quiet time.
With that, she is happy to report she received her first COVID-19 shot recently and, once sports are back up and running, she’ll be back out there helping.
We will be checking in with other Women of Influence throughout the week.
Until then, you can catch up on the 18 women we’ve highlighted in the community to date here and here.
