It’s Pink Shirt Day.
The annual campaign supports anti-bullying initiatives, with a focus on working together and treating others with dignity and respect.
The facts around bullying are astounding as 1 in 5 children are affected by bullying.
Within the Grand Erie District School Board, the theme for this year is: “Lift each other up.”
Resource were created by Grand Erie’s Child & Youth Workers, including student lessons on expressing feelings and problem solving.
In 2007, two grade 12 students at at Nova Scotia High School started wearing pink in support of a grade 9 student who was being bullied for wearing the same colour.
In less than a week, most of the school was wearing pink.
