Downtown Simcoe is set to become a canvas for some amazing artists.
Starting in Spring of this year, a collaboration project will see see three large murals erected in Simcoe’s core
Andrew Gunn is coordinating the project, and he said that this is an ideal time to beautiful the outside of buildings.
He also adds the layout of Simcoe’s Downtown makes it ideal too, due to it’s compact nature.
The first project will take place at Riversyde 83, with Virgina Lucas talking about the proposed work of Artist Meaghan Claire Kehoe.
Riversyde will also be opening up the other side of their building for a local artist.
Another location will be at 4 Peel Street.
The exterior wall of the second floor will be transformed with another mural by Meaghan Claire Kehoe, complimenting her first piece at the Riversyde 83 site.
Internationally-acclaimed artist Andrew Lewis has been engaged to design a massive new mural on the south side of the Salinas Bakery building at 85 Norfolk Street South.
This new work of art would cover approximately 1500 square feet and serve as a true landmark for both downtown Simcoe and Norfolk County.
But Gunn is hopeful that this will just be the beginning.
