Norfolk County is celebrating Earth Week with the launch of its 2025 Tree Giveaway, offering 350 native trees to local residents through a random draw.
The program opens Wednesday, April 16 and closes April 23, encouraging residents to take part in environmental stewardship by enhancing green space and increasing local tree canopy coverage.
The initiative is spearheaded by Norfolk’s forestry department with support from the County’s climate change adaptation measures program.
It’s part of broader efforts to build a more sustainable and resilient community.
Residents can choose from a variety of native species, including red maple, sugar maple, white birch, eastern redbud, flowering dogwood, Kentucky coffeetree, tulip-tree, and black cherry.
Only one entry is allowed per household and all winners must commit to planting their tree on private property within Norfolk County.
Entries must be submitted through a short online form at engagenorfolk.ca/tree-giveaway.
Winners will be contacted directly after the draw. Residents are also reminded to use OntarioOneCall.ca before digging to mark underground utilities.
