Residents of Haldimand-Norfolk get their first real introduction to all local candidates for the upcoming federal election

The Federal Election is quickly approaching, and residents of Haldimand-Norfolk got to hear from all the candidates for the first time last night (Thursday) during a debate put on by the Simcoe and District Chamber of Commerce.

Below is the opening statements from each candidate, in the order they were called.

We will dive deeper into the topics next week, but for many, this was the first time residents got introduced to everyone running.

Colin Walsh explained why he decided to run for the Liberals and why people should cast their vote for him.

Lily Eggink is running Christian Heritage Party of Canada, and during her opening statements she said she was running because of her concern for Canadian Governance.

Shannon Horner-Shepherd spoke about why she was running for the NDP, and why she thinks she has the voice Haldimand Norfolk needs right now.

Conservative candidate Leslyn Lewis is hoping to keep her seat in the riding and that the Conservative wave sweeps the country, as she feels the current government needs to go.

Henry Geissler is the People’s Party of Canada candidate believes it’s time for Haldimand-Norfolk and Canada as a whole to try and reverse course on some decisions that have been hurting the country and our riding.

Nathan Hawkings from the Green Party was upfront that he does not live in the riding but he has seen stuff in his own backyard that he does not want to see happen here.
