To say Netting The Waters, a local film by Daryl Granger, was a sensation would be an understatement.
The one man film about the Port Dover fishing industry and history sold out shows in Simcoe for half a year, racked up awards at film festivals, and was the talk of the town around the water cooler and in local coffee shops.
On Monday, part of that whirlwind journey came to an end as the film has it’s final screening at The Strand.
If you missed the big film, or if you are eager for a re-watch, Granger has some good news.
In May, as a way to say thank you, the film is returning but this time at Silver Lake Park in Port Dover.
Admission will be by donation, with that money going towards the Port Dover Kinsmen’s Splash Pad fundraiser.
One of the big reasons why he wanted to do the film in Port Dover was to say thank you to the community, but also the people who caught on camera who helped make this such a success.
The event it slated for May 9th running from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. including the live entertainment prior to the film being shown.
As for the future of the film beyond this event, Granger promises it’s not going to be put into a vault and locked away.
Finally, since Granger was in studio, we asked the question on everyone’s mind – What’s next?
