Honourable Intentions” has led to an honourable win for Debra DiGiovanni.
At the Juno Awards last night, DiGiovanni took home the award for Comedy Album of the Year for her album Honourable Intentions.
DiGiovanni, a Canadian comedian originally from Tillsonburg, has celebrated many milestones in her career, growing from a small-town performer to a successful comedian based in Los Angeles.
She has been performing stand-up for over two decades, bringing laughter to audiences across North America while keeping her roots firmly in Canada.
Her relatable humour and high-energy performances have made her one of the country’s most beloved comedians.
She took an unconventional path into comedy, risking her fashion design program to enroll in Humber College’s first-ever Comedy Writing and Performance program in 1999.
Within three months of moving to Toronto, she was on stage—and she has never looked back. Over the years, she has built an impressive résumé, performing on major platforms such as Comedy Central, Conan, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Crave.
Her sharp wit has earned her multiple accolades, including three Canadian Comedy Awards for Best Female Comedian and a Gemini Award for her Halifax Comedy Festival special.
Now, she adds a Juno Award to her growing list of achievements.
This marks DiGiovanni’s first Juno win, but it’s not her first nomination.
In 2019, her album Lady Jazz was named one of the Top Ten Comedy Albums of the Year and received a Juno nomination.
You can catch her latest work on streaming platforms or see her live as she continues her tour.
