The Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice has received a transformational $500,000 donation from Peter Porter, honouring the memory of his late wife, Judith Ann Porter.
This generous gift will fund the construction of the hospice, with the Family Room named in her honour-a place of peace, comfort, and connection for families facing end-of-life care.
Peter’s donation is deeply personal. Judy passed away in 2024 after battling cancer. As a stroke survivor, she required 24/7 care, and Peter was her devoted caregiver. However, he now recognizes how emotionally and physically exhausting it is to care for a loved one at home.
His contribution ensures that families in Norfolk and Haldimand will have proper support and dignified end-of-life care, easing the burden on caregivers and providing a sanctuary for patients. The hospice continues to seek donations to make this vision a reality.
