The frigid waters of Lake Erie are set to welcome brave participants this Sunday as the Norfolk County OPP hosts its annual Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
The community event will take place at Turkey Point Beach, right in front of the Turkey Point Hotel on Cedar Drive.
While speaking with Constable Andrew Gamble of the Norfolk County OPP about the upcoming event, he highlighted the growing popularity since its inception.
The Polar Plunge is well-known for its lively atmosphere, with participants from various community organizations, including the Norfolk County Fire Department and Norfolk County Paramedic Services, all showing their support.
While the weather on plunge day can be unpredictable, Gamble emphasized the sense of community and camaraderie that defines the event.
For those hesitant to brave the chilly waters, Gamble assured there are still plenty of ways to participate.
As for Gamble, he’ll also be taking the plunge this Sunday, following his event debut in 2024.
The Polar Plunge is scheduled for this Sunday, and Gamble encourages everyone to come out, whether to take the plunge or cheer on those who do.
