
A wanted individual has been arrested and charged after an Ontario Provincial Police officer identified them during a routine patrol in Simcoe.
At approximately 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, an officer from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment was patrolling West Street when they spotted a person with an outstanding arrest warrant.
Upon making contact, the individual fled the area, prompting officers to initiate a search.
The suspect was later located on Pond Street and taken into custody without further incident.
During the arrest, officers conducted a search and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, Canadian currency, and drug-related paraphernalia.
As a result, 30-year-old Richard Grant of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada
- Failure to comply with a probation order
