Vandan Patel is stepping into the political arena as the Ontario Liberal Party candidate for Haldimand-Norfolk in the 2025 election. With a strong background in agriculture and public service, Patel is focused on addressing key issues such as healthcare, education, and economic growth.
Patel’s roots in agriculture run deep. His grandfather was a tobacco merchant, and his father, a veterinarian. Holding a degree in agricultural science, Patel understands the challenges farmers face and is determined to support the local economy. In addition to his agricultural background, Patel has been active in public service, serving on the board of directors for the Liberal Party of Canada and as secretary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 121 in Galt. His dedication to community outreach earned him the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award.
Despite residing in Cambridge, Patel asserts his commitment to the riding. He has spent significant time connecting with Haldimand-Norfolk residents, addressing concerns about healthcare access, doctor shortages, and affordable housing. He emphasizes that Ontarians face similar challenges, and we are all looking for the same solutions for the province.
Patel is particularly passionate about improving healthcare by increasing the number of doctors and nurses, reducing wait times, and enhancing long-term care facilities. He argues that the province has not adequately addressed healthcare concerns since the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving many communities struggling to access essential medical services.
Education is another priority for Patel. He believes in strengthening the education system by reducing student-to-teacher ratios, expanding school infrastructure, and increasing OSAP funding to support students from all financial backgrounds. As a father, Patel is deeply invested in the future of Ontario’s youth, say investing in education is protecting every child’s future.
With a focus on teamwork under Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie, Patel promises to bring real solutions to the community. Patel believes that a united approach will lead to meaningful change in Haldimand-Norfolk.
