A special moment took place last week at Riversyde 83 in Simcoe.
That was Virginia Lucas, speaking about the prestigious award she and Adele Haverkamp received.
This recognition comes just months after Eric Haverkamp received the same honour for his work with Church Out Serving.
These medals celebrate Canadians who have made significant contributions to society. Church Out Serving has impacted many lives in Norfolk through its various community programs.
Both recipients were overwhelmed by the recognition.
We discussed the lives that have been touched by Church Out Serving and how it feels to see their work making a difference.
For Virginia Lucas, one of her proudest achievements was launching a Warming Shelter in Simcoe and witnessing firsthand how many lives have been transformed because of it.
